Up and Away

Today we did a science experiment.In this picture you can see there is a balloon on top of the bottle. The bottle was full of vinegar and the balloon had baking soda in it. When we poured the baking soda into the balloon a gas was created (carbon dioxide) and this blew the balloon up.

Gymnastic Competition

Here are some of the boys involved in the Year 4 Gymnastic competition. We hope those muscles didn't let them down!!!!!
Our girls also competed they were amazing too-Isis, Jemma, Ellie, Iesha well done!!!

Gas Bag

Today we did some science with vinegar and baking soda and we used plastic bags with zip locks,we shook the bag until it bubbled up and it looked like coke and when we shook the bag it looked like a pillow.After that it exploded and it  was messy but it was all worth it and the most important thing is that it was fun.

Aquatic Skills

Last week Jemma's mum came and taught classes about some survival skills. We learnt a lot. Ella was pretending to be in a boat and then Mrs Goulter threw her out and Ollie had to save her.

Jemma and Ana learnt how important it is to wear the right size life jacket.

Mask parade

Last Friday we went to the Mask parade.  Our schools theme was native birds.  Our class did Keas and we were buddies for rooms 2 and 13. It was cool fun and we had a great time!

Room7 music

Every Tuesday afternoon Room7 has been going to music with Mrs Gregory.In this photo Jonti,Ollie,Ryan and Caleb are playing their instruments.but Ollie,Jonti and Ryan have a secret they are part of a boy band called 7 Direction. They have a song called drunken sailor.We love music because we get to play the instruments and have FUN!  It is fun and easy to do:Ellie  we like music because Mrs Gregory is a nice music teacher. Mask parade

Room7 has just finished making our kea masks for the mask parade.First we painted our masks and beaks,and then we made our feathers and glued them on.after that we got some pegs and hung them up for the mask parade.

Keeping our Eggs Safe

We have been talking about Keeping Ourselves Safe. As part of this we have kept an egg safe for a whole week. It was egg-ceptional fun and everyone was an egg-cellent egg sitter.
We took our eggs and their homes to Room 5 and shared what we were doing.
Lily's egg was called Ems and wore the most egg-citing shade of lipstick!

Tree planting

Last week we went tree planting at the beach. Steve and John gave us a demonstration on how to plant a tree. I worked with Brodie and Trent, we planted heaps!!!!!! It was fun being at the beach and planting.

Art Fun

My name is Isis and I am doing bubble art. It is made out of dye and dish washing liquid. What you have to do is  you get a straw and you blow in the straw till the bubbles come out of the jar  and you put your paper over the  bubbles and  there will be  different  colors  and then you leave it to dry.
Hi I`m Charlotte  and we're doing calender art.I`m doing maori patterns around that rectangle because that is where we're putting a photo of me in the rectangle . Then when we finish  the patterns then we color it in.

Robbie's holiday

When I went to Rarotonga  I did lots of snorkeling and climbing coconut trees.On Wednesday we saw two  pigs!On Tuesday we went on a boat ride called Tama's lagoon cruises .First you go on the boats they take you out to a place where you go snorkle where there a some black pearl farms. Then they take you to an island that's where you have lunch and do lots of activities.

 This is a coconut crab. It's the coconut crab because it's got huge claws can nip the stem of the coconut and get into the coconut easly.

Today room 7 made porititi that Bob Bickerton inspired us to make.We used cardboard, string and our pencil for the designing.

Cross Country

Wow Ana what a speed star. We completed the school cross country down the beach this week and it was tough running in the sand but WE DID IT!!!!!!!!!! Ana came in 7th which is GREAT. 

Iesha and Ella from our room led us home with 1st and 2nd places in the girls race. Now we are looking forward to see who gets in the interschool cross country team.

Cross Country Practice

Yesterday it was cross country practice so we buddied up in threes. It was really fun. We were coming fourth. Robbie ran in front of the leader which made us come first out of the whole senior syndicate. 

Easter!

Room7 loves Easter because you get CHOCOLATE!!!!.Ollie dressed up as Michael Jackson while Brodie was a bunny and Jessie gave us all an Easter egg!!!!!!!!!! Joe was the rooster.
We are really looking forward to the Easter holidays and next term.

Here I am I am doing a mirror experiment on light and dark I am tracing  around a star it's trickier than it looks you know.

Light Experiments

Here Riley and I are finding out how to make a rainbow with a prism. White light from the sun is made up of all the colours of the rainbow. To remember them think of Roy G Biv. The sun hits the prism which splits the light into all the colours.

Cycle Safety with room7

We learnt how to go over the see saw with out falling off  our bike we also learnt  how to check our helmet & bike.The next day we did a tryathalon it was awesome on the bike. Brodie's favourite thing was biking up the hill. Robbie's favourite thing was biking down the hill.

                                                           

The First Post On Year Four Camp



All the kids on year four camp

You might have been waiting for this first post but we have done a first finally. This picture shows all the year 4's at Paretai. It was amazing there even though when we first arrived it rained and the water was freezing. Still we got to do everything and had a great time. Later we will post more pictures of our camp activities for you all to enjoy.
